On a beautiful Saturday Morning more than 4.100 people came to visit the Christmas Bazaar 2008 in the German Embassy.
As the Bazaar is getting more and more popular not only in the German Expat Community but also within other Communities and Chinese friends, visitors have to consider long queue lines.
We don't know, if it is the smell of Curry-sausages and Glühwein, the flair of the wooden houses or the knowledge that all proceeds go to charity that attract every year the Beijing folks at the beginning of the Advent, but we know that we had countless helping hands to prepare all the handicrafts, 243 Christmas wreaths, cakes, marmalade and biscuits and even more countless hands to sell them.
Thanks also to the great support of our visitors and sponsors at the end we are able to distribute more than 440.000 RMB to the Projects selected and supported by us. Herewith we would like to point out that all proceeds of the entire Bazaar go to Charity.
2008 was with the Olympic Games a special year for Beijing and with the following changes also a difficult year for the Projects. Therefore we were very happy when we passed on unexpected, big gift in kind and finished the Special Project.

Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und milden Temperaturen kamen auch im Jahr 2008 wieder mehr als 4.100 Besucher in die Deutsche Botschaft.
Der Basar ist mittlerweile ein Highlight in der Pekinger Vorweihnachtszeit und nicht nur bei Deutschen sehr beliebt. Wer mit Pass und etwas Geduld gewappnet war, hatte die Möglichkeit allerlei deutsche Spezialitäten zu probieren und zu geniessen.
Wir banden und dekorierten 243 frische Weihnachtskränze aber auch das ganze Jahr über wurde eifrig genäht, gefilzt und gebastelt so dass wir auch sonst viel anzubieten hatte.
Dank der Hilfe vieler, fleissiger Helfer und der Unterstützung der Besucher und unserer Sponsoren können wir dieses Jahr mehr als 440.000 RMB an die von uns unterstützten Projekte weitergeben. Wir möchten noch einmal darauf hinweisen, dass die Gewinne oder zum Teil sogar der gesamte Umsatz aller Stände an die Projekte weitergeleitet werden.
2008 war durch die Olympiade ein spezielles Jahr für Peking und durch einige Einschränkungen für viele Projekte deshalb ein schwieriges Jahr. Wir freuten uns deshalb umso mehr unerwartet grosse Sachspenden weiterleiten zu können und über die Durch-
führung der Spezialprojekte.
